Introduction of Recessed Plate Filter Press
A recessed plate filter press is a type of filtration equipment that is used to separate solid particles from liquids. It works well for different types of suspensions. This version of a press filter uses plates that have indentations.
The structure of the chamber filter press is similar to that of the plate and frame filter press, but the filter plate of the recessed plate type filter press is thicker than that of the plate and frame filter press. This means that it can bear higher feeding pressure. The recessed chamber filter press consists of two identical filter plates.
When the two filter plates are pressurized, a filter chamber is formed. The feed hole is in the center of the filter press plate. It is used for materials with large particles, such as sewage treatment, ore dressing, and coal washing. The concave plate filter press can handle pressures up to 0.6MP/1.4 MPa. It can also easily remove the filter cake using automatic pulling plates. This makes it more versatile.
It is also an advanced mechanical product that separates solid and liquid materials. It has five main parts: the frame part, the filter part, the pull plate part, the hydraulic part, and the electrical control part.



Recessed Plate Filter Press Working Principle
- The material is pumped into the filter press through the feed, and the solids are evenly distributed in the filter chamber. The solids begin to collect on the filter cloth, and over time, they form a filter cake on the filter press cloth.
- Filtrate usually exits the filter plates through corner ports and enters the manifold. When the correct valve in the manifold is open, the filtrate leaves the filter press through the outlet.
- As the filter presses build up pressure, solids collect in the filter chamber until the filter cake is completely filled. The filling cycle is complete when the filter chamber is full of filter cake. Then, the press is turned on, the filter press plate is moved, and the filter cake falls into the filter cake hopper.

Difference Between Plate and Frame Filter Press and Recessed Chamber Filter Press
- Feeding position: The most common way to feed the chamber filter press is from the middle, and some older equipment uses the middle-upper method or corner feeding. The plate and frame filter press usually uses corner feeding.
- Filter press plate structure: The filter plate of the recessed plate filter press is an essential filter plate. The plate and frame filter plates are made up of two parts: a plate and a frame.
- How automated is it? The chamber filter press can operate automatically, but the plate and frame filter press cannot.

- Feed through the center hole to fill the filter chamber faster and more evenly. This reduces the risk of damaging the filter plate due to uneven pressure.

- Cake release is easier with concave plates. When using a plate and frame filter press, the filter cake may not be released as quickly and may require more steps to remove.
